The peasant who saw another with his wife

D’un vilein cunte que gueita

Dunc li ad la femme respundu:

“Quei avez vus, beau sire, amis?”

Sur le lit vus tient embracee!”

Dunc dit la femme tut curucee,

“Fous es,” fet eles, “si tu creiz

Pur verité quan ke tu veiz.”

It is said of a villain that he waited

in his house, and spied

that another man was in his bed,

and with his wife he rejoiced.

"Oh no!" He said "What have I seen!"

Then the woman answered him:

"What is wrong, love, beautiful lord?"

"Another man! It's what I think,

On the bed had you embraced!

The woman said then, angrily

“I know well,” she said, “and without a doubt,

that this is your old foolishness;

"You want to have lies for truth."

"I saw it," he said, "I must believe it."

"You're crazy," she said, "if you believe

pure truth everything you see.

Fabliaux

El campesino que vio a otro con su esposa

De un villano se cuenta que esperó

en su casa, y espió

Que otro hombre en su cama estaba,

y con su esposa se regocijaba.

"¡Oh no!" dijo "¡Qué he visto yo!"

Entonces la mujer le respondió:

"¿Qué tienes, amor, bello señor?"

"¡Otro hombre! Es mi opinión,

¡Sobre la cama te abrazó!

La mujer dijo, iracunda

“Bien sé", dijo ella, “y sin dudar,

que esta es tu vieja necedad;

Quieres mentiras por verdad".

"Yo lo ví", dijo, "lo debo creer bien".

"Estás loco", dijo, "si tu crees

pura verdad cuanto tu ves.
